The 5-foot-10, 125-pound junior distance talent clocked the nation’s fastest time among prep boys in the 3000-meter run, breaking the tape in 8:12.94 at the Class 5A state meet. Tostenson also won the 1500 (3:50.92) and shared in a third-place finish in the 4x400 relay, running the anchor leg for a foursome that clocked a 3:27.26 and helping the Comets finish second in the state as a team. His season-best time in the 1500 ranked No. 4 nationally, while his top mile (4:03.55) and his top 3200 (8:39.89) ranked No. 15 and No. 8 in the country, respectively.
Tostenson has maintained a B average in the classroom. He will begin his senior year of high school this fall.
Serving as the primary caretaker for his father, who is battling Parkinson’s Disease, Tostenson has volunteered locally on behalf of a number of youth running camps and clinics in the area.
