In the last decade, youth participation in sports has been on a double-digit decline, largely due to a lack of resources and limited access to athletic programs. That’s why Gatorade is working to create more opportunities for equity and belonging in sports.
Gatorade has been fueling athletes for over 50 years and has seen the positive impact sports can have on youth, including improvements in learning, health, emotional well-being, and future career success.

Being a Gatorade Player of the Year means paying it forward for the next generation. As part of Gatorade’s Community Grant program, every Player of the Year receives a grant to give to one of Gatorade’s social impact partners, supporting Gatorade’s ambition to fuel the future of sport. To date, the Gatorade Player of the Year program has provided more than $6.4 million in grants to winners across more than 2,200 organizations.
In addition to the $1,000 Gatorade Player of the Year grant, award winners are empowered to nominate their youth organization for a chance at a $10,000 spotlight grant. To be eligible for this supplemental grant, award winners are asked to submit a short video explaining why their selected organization deserves additional support. After review, Gatorade will choose one organization from each of the twelve sports to receive the $10,000 spotlight grant.
Fueling A Better World Through Sport
Gatorade Player of the Year winners who do not wish to self-select an organization can choose to donate their grant to one of the five social impact partners listed below. Each partner has been vetted and supported by Gatorade, with the goal of providing an extensive network and resources to help more youth participate and fuel a better world through sport.
