The 6-foot, 195-pound senior throws specialist won the national championship in the hammer throw this past season at New Balance Nationals Outdoors. Del Sasso’s winning effort of 224 feet, 5 inches ranked No. 2 nationally among prep competitors this spring. He also won the hammer at the Class A State meet, leading the Elephants to 12th place as a team.
Del Sasso has maintained a weighted 4.28 GPA in the classroom. He has signed a national letter of intent to compete on an athletic scholarship at Northeastern University this fall.
Del Sasso has volunteered locally with the Coventry Unified volleyball and basketball teams, supporting young athletes with physical and intellectual challenges. He has also donated his time with the Special Olympics and on behalf of the Rhode Island Alternative Academy Foundation, supporting students and families who have struggled in traditional educational settings.
