Athletic Excellence


The 6-foot-10, 255-pound senior center led the Sharks to a 27-4 record and a second straight Class 5A state championship this past season. Carey averaged 21.1 points, 9.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.1 blocks per game. The Florida Dairy Farmers Mr. Basketball as a junior, Carey is a 2019 McDonald’s All-American Game selection. He was the tournament MVP for Team USA at the 2017 FIBA Americas U16 Championship, and earned All-Tournament recognition at the 2018 FIBA U17 World Cup.

Academic Achievement


Carey has maintained a B average in the classroom. He has signed a national letter of intent to play basketball on scholarship at Duke University beginning this fall.

Exemplary Character


The son of former Miami Dolphins offensive lineman Vernon Carey, he has volunteered locally on behalf of his father’s philanthropic foundation, which creates programs and provides support for South Florida youth.
