Athletic Excellence

The state’s returning Gatorade Player of the Year, the 6-foot-5, 225-pound senior guard averaged 21.7 points, 10.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists this past season, leading the Eaglets (20-7) to the Division 1 state semifinals. The state’s Mr. Basketball winner, McKenney is a McDonald’s All-American Game selection and a three-time Division 1 Player of the Year. Ranked as the nation’s No. 18 recruit in the Class of 2025 by ESPN.com, he concluded his prep basketball career with 1,970 points.

Academic Achievement

McKenney has maintained a 3.58 GPA in the classroom. He has signed a written letter of athletic aid to play basketball at the University of Michigan this fall.

Exemplary Character

A member of the St. Mary’s Prep student council and president of the Class of 2025, McKenney has volunteered locally as part of a fundraiser to purchase coats for Ukrainian refugees in the Detroit area. He has also donated his time as a youth basketball coach.
