The state’s returning Gatorade Boys Track & Field Athlete of the Year, this 6-foot-2, 215-pound junior swept the shot put and discus at the Class 2A state meet for a second straight year this spring, leading the Spudders to a third-place finish as a team. Knight ranked No. 1 in the nation among prep competitors in 2019 at the time of his selection thanks to having launched the hammer a personal-best 254 feet, 0.5 inches in April, with ranks as the fourth-longest throw in American prep history. He also ranked No. 24 in the shot put (63-5.5) and No. 26 in the discus (189-4), nationally.
Knight has maintained a 3.70 GPA in the classroom. He will begin his senior year of high school this fall.
Knight has volunteered locally at Daybreak Youth Services, serving Christmas breakfast to residents. He has also donated his time as a youth track coach.
