The 5-foot-10, 175-pound senior forward and midfielder led the Rough Riders to a 12-1-2 record and the Class AA state championship this past season. Smajlovic tallied 12 goals and 11 assists, including the lone score in Roosevelt’s 1-0 win over Washington High in the state final. A First Team All-State selection, Smajlovic was also the MaxPreps State Player of the Year. He concluded his prep soccer career with 37 goals and 28 assists.
Smajlovic has maintained a 3.22 GPA in the classroom. He will attend the University of Dubuque in Iowa, where he will play soccer.
Smajlovic works two part-time jobs and has volunteered locally as a youth soccer coach.
