The 6-foot-2, 200-pound senior right-handed pitcher and shortstop had led the Eagles to a 13-2 record at the time of his selection. Halvorsen compiled a 4-0 record with a 1.22 ERA through 15 games to go with a .395 batting average, 21 runs scored and 11 RBI. He had surrendered just 11 hits in 23 innings pitched while striking out 54 batters. A First Team All-State honoree, he is also a Rawlings/Perfect Game First Team All-American and was selected to USA TODAY’s American Family Insurance ALL-USA Minnesota First Team.
Halvorsen has maintained a 3.11 GPA in the classroom. He has signed a National Letter of Intent to play baseball on scholarship at the University of Missouri this fall, but is projected as an early round selection in June’s Major League Baseball draft.
A devoted member of his church youth group, Halvorsen has assisted with a pre-kindergarten classroom and has volunteered locally on behalf of a prom for special needs students.
