The 5-foot-9 senior won the CIF Division II state title this past season with a time of 16:57.6, becoming the first three-time champion in that classification and pacing the Cougars to fourth place as a team. Engelhardt also earned Second Team All-America honors by crossing the line 11th at the Nike Cross Nationals. She won the Clovis (Pre-State) Invitational in 16:24.2, breaking the course record at the venue, which has hosted every state championship since its inception in 1987. The state’s two-time returning Gatorade Player of the Year, she took fifth at the Woodbridge Classic, the nation’s largest cross-country invitational.
Engelhardt has maintained a weighted 4.57 GPA in the classroom. She has signed a written letter of athletic aid to run cross country and track at North Carolina State University this fall.
An active member of Runners for Public Lands, Engelhardt has volunteered locally cleaning and clearing running trails and public-access open space.
