The 5-foot-5, 115-pound senior earned dual All-American honors this past season, finishing 10th and 15th, respectively, at the national NXN Final and the national Foot Locker Cross Country Championships. Mechura was the state’s top finisher at NXN nationals as well as the NXN Heartland Regional, where he clocked a 5K season-best time of 14:36.0. Ranked No. 16 in the national MileSplit 50 last fall, he also broke the tape at the Class AAA state meet, leading the Raiders to eighth place as a team.
Mechura has maintained a 3.99 GPA in the classroom. He has signed a written letter of athletic aid to run at the University of North Carolina this fall.
A member of the Roseville Student Leadership Council, Mechura has volunteered locally on behalf of Special Olympics and has served as a track coach for the Roseville Parks & Recreation Department. He has also donated his time to multiple community service initiatives in association with the National Honor Society.
