2ND
NIKE/JESUIT TWILIGHT RELAY - 1 MILE
“Owen is a pure joy to coach. Owen has the unique ability to strike a balance between working hard and encouraging others to do the same. He takes advantage of disappointing races—which are few and far between—by analyzing the results, looking for ways to improve and then moving on.”
Susan Empey
Head Coach - head coach of Mercer Island High

Athletic Excellence

The 5-foot-11, 140-pound junior middle-distance and distance talent set a state record in the 800-meter run at the Portland Track Festival this past season. Powell’s time of 1:48.60 shaved more than two seconds off his personal best and ranked No. 4 nationally among prep competitors this spring. His second-place finish of 4:02.04 in the mile at the Nike/Jesuit Twilight Relays ranked No. 8 nationally in 2024, while his top 3200-meter run (8:41.03) at the Arcadia Invitational ranked No. 11.

Academic Achievement

Powell has maintained a 3.68 GPA in the classroom. He will begin his senior year of high school this fall.
