The 6-foot-3, 210-pound sophomore quarterback and linebacker passed for 2,056 yards and 29 touchdowns this past season, leading the Redhawks (11-0) to a Division I state championship. Yates also rushed for 280 yards and three scores. The 2024 MaxPreps Vermont Player of the Year, he recorded 51 tackles on defense, including 15 for loss, along with six sacks, three forced fumbles and one interception. He accounted for four total touchdowns and passed for 177 yards in Champlain Valley Union’s 41-14 win over Rutland in the state final.
Yates has maintained a 3.66 GPA in the classroom. He will begin his junior year next fall.
An avid skier and guitar player, Yates has volunteered locally on behalf of a clothing drive for those in need as well as for an organization dedicated to teen suicide prevention.
