The 5-foot-9, 135-pound senior broke the tape at the Nike Cross Nationals Southeast Regional Championships this past season, clocking a personal-best time of 14:40.80 to earn First Team All-Region honors. Ranked No. 28 in the 2023 Dyestat 100, Valyo was unbeaten by an in-state runner last fall. His victories at the Class 4A state meet—where he ran the fastest all-class time of the day—and the Great American XC Festival were also marquee wins.
Valyo has maintained a 4.17 weighted GPA in the classroom. He has signed a National Letter of Intent to run on scholarship at North Carolina State University this fall.
Valyo recently completed a sports management internship and has donated his time to the Jaguars athletic department by creating media, performing social-networking and providing logistical support.
