At the time of his selection, the 6-foot-8, 260-pound senior power forward had led the Plainsmen (19-9) to the Class 4A state title game. Summers averaged 16.7 points, 9.6 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game, shooting 64 percent from inside the arc. He battled a high ankle sprain to score 25 points and pull down 11 rebounds in the state final. As a junior, he led Laramie to the program’s first Regional championship in 55 years and first 20-win season in 81 years.
Summers has maintained a 3.90 GPA in the classroom. He remains undecided upon a collegiate destination.
Having played a lead role with the University of Wyoming Lab School theatrical performance, Summers has volunteered locally on behalf of Vedauwoo National Park and the New Life Church. He has also donated his time as an assistant coach for a girls youth basketball team and as a youth referee in addition to participating in the Laramie Turf Wars, the Battle of the Books and the Walk for Water.
