The 5-foot-4 sophomore took seventh at the NXN Northwest Regional this past season, clocking a personal-best time of 17:41.50 to garner First Team All-Region honors. Madsen broke the tape at the Class 4A state meet, leading the Thunderbirds to the team title. She won eight of her 10 races last fall and was the state’s top finisher at the Dave Sanders Invitational in Colorado, where she crossed the line fourth.
Madsen has maintained a weighted 4.11 GPA in the classroom. She will begin her junior year of high school this fall.
A member of the Cheyenne Mayor’s Youth Council, Madsen has volunteered locally on behalf of the Cheyenne Youth Day of Giving, the Greenway Cleanup, the Botanic Gardens and Needs Inc. She has also donated her time as a track meet assistant and by fundraising for Friday Food Bags.
