The 6-foot-3 sophomore outside hitter led the Lions to a 40-1 record and a Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) state championship this past season. Spears amassed 544 kills and 225 digs to go with 50 aces and 65 blocks, posting a .477 hitting percentage and .602 kill percentage on the attack. A member of the under-19 U.S. National Team, she was named TAPPS Player of the Year, the Dallas Morning News Player of the Year, VolleyballMag Texas Player of the Year and a MaxPreps First-Team All-American.
Spears, the daughter of former Dallas Cowboys defensive lineman Marcus Spears and former WNBA player Aiysha Spears, has maintained a 3.12 GPA in the classroom. She will begin her junior year of high school this fall.
Spears has volunteered locally as part of the Service Project Day at Prestonwood Christian, during which students work at food pantries, retirement facilities and men’s and women’s shelters, among other locations in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. She also has donated her time to the Special Olympics event at Flint Hill School in Virginia, Spears’ former school, in addition to packing lunches for needy families over the holidays.
