At the time of his selection, the 6-foot-5, 255-pound senior right-handed pitcher and first baseman had led the War Hawks to a 25-1 record and the Class 6A regional quarterfinals. Baker owned an 11-0 record with a 1.23 ERA and 101 strikeouts in 68 innings
Baker has maintained a 3.75 GPA in the classroom.
A member of the youth group at Christ Church United Methodist, he has donated his time to The Woodlands Children's Festival. He has also volunteered in association with the Special Olympics and serves as a peer mentor on behalf of Oak Ridge High's Safe Sc
G: What is your team motto?
LB: Everybody loves everybody. If everyone on the team loves each other then we all will work harder and play harder to contribute all we can to the team because we want to succeed for our brothers beside us.
G: What one piece of advice do you have for freshman about being a successful high school student athlete?
LB: Always give 100% academically and athletically because what you learn on either side can be applicable to the other.
G: What is your favorite highlight from this year?
LB: Rallying late to score 4 runs in walk off fashion against our district rival to win 5-4. This was my favorite highlight because it gave our team confidence that we could be the best team our school has ever had.
G: What training habit has the most impact on your performance?
LB: Being consistent and always doing everything to the best of my ability to ensure steady progress in my craft.
G: What have you learned from your coach that you will never forget?
LB: Be ready for anything and expect the unexpected because things aren't always going to go the way you planned so the better you can adapt to every situation the more successful you'll be.
