The 6-foot-3, 195-pound senior right-handed pitcher, first baseman and third baseman compiled a 12-2 record on the mound with a 0.80 ERA and 138 strikeouts against just 10 walks in 88 innings, leading the Jaguars (30-5) to the Class 5A state championship game this past season. The state’s Class 5A Player of the Year, Hood held opponents to a .160 batting average. He also hit .409 with a .480 on-base percentage.
Hood has maintained a 4.12 weighted GPA in the classroom. He has signed a written letter of athletic aid to play baseball on scholarship at Gonzaga University this fall.
A member of his school’s student government for the past two years, Hood has volunteered locally on behalf of the Special Olympics, supporting over 300 athletes with special needs from across the West Valley.
