At the time of her selection, the 5-foot-11 senior guard had led the Tigers (24-2) to a berth in the Class 6A state tournament. Parks, the state’s returning Gatorade Player of the Year, averaged 25.2 points, 8.7 rebounds, 5.2 steals and 3.8 assists through 26 games, shooting 53.1 percent from the floor. She broke Norman’s career scoring record for boys and girls and entered the state tournament with 1,838 points.
Parks has maintained a 3.82 GPA in the classroom. She has signed a written letter of athletic aid to play basketball at the University of Kansas this fall.
Parks has volunteered locally with Norman High’s Tigerpalooza organization, which recently raised funds for Not Your Average Joe, a local coffee shop that offers employment opportunities to students and adults with special needs. She has also donated her time by helping to collect and deliver gifts for the elderly at the Noble Health Care Center.
