The 6-foot-3, 195-pound senior right-handed pitcher led the Jaguars to a 30-8 record and a berth in the Class 4A-1 substate championship game last season. Oakie compiled a 7-3 record on the mound with a 1.13 ERA, surrendering just 18 hits in 49.2 innings while striking out 91 batters. He also batted .341 with 20 RBI and a .941 OPS. A 2024 Baseball America preseason First Team All-American, Oakie was also a member of the USA Baseball 18U National Team in 2023. He’s ranked as the No. 41 prospect in the upcoming MLB Draft by Baseball America, he’s also the No. 18 recruit in the Class of 2024 as rated by the Prep Baseball Report.
Oakie has maintained a 3.55 weighted GPA in the classroom. He has signed a National Letter of Intent to play baseball on scholarship at Iowa this fall, but is projected to be an early round selection in July’s 2024 Major League Baseball First Year Player Draft.
Oakie has volunteered locally on behalf of the Miracle League, which provides opportunities to play baseball to children and adults regardless of physical ability.
