THE INTERVIEW

G: What is your team motto?

JB: Finish Business. Our team made it down to the final four in the state of Illinois for three straight years. The first two years we were unsuccessful, but our previous year we were able to get it done and become Class 4A State Champions.

G: What one piece of advice do you have for freshman about being a successful high school student athlete?

JB: Some advice I would give freshman is to never give up. That sounds so bland and common but never give up on anything not just yourself. To be successful in school you cannot give on teachers, and to be successful in your team sport you cannot give up on teammates and coaches.

G: What is your favorite highlight from this year?

JB: The moments after winning my state championship. My teammates and I worked so hard to get to that moment, and once we were successful it brought to joy to everyone.

G: What training habit has the most impact on your performance?

JB: Sleeping and resting. Being well rested and staying close to 100% health is key in a long season. Your body goes through a lot and you need to take care of it to be able to perform at the highest level.

G: What have you learned from your coach that you will never forget?

JB: I learned how to be an extension of him on the court. A point guard's job is to lead their team on the court and help the head coach and make his job easier. He has taught me to lead and be responsible for everything that happens, and everyone on the court.
