The state’s returning Gatorade Player of the Year, the 6-foot, 170-pound senior guard had led the Lions to a 27-1 record and a berth in the Class 6A state semifinals at the time of his selection. Shelstad averaged 28.2 points, 5.4 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.9 steals per game entering the state final four, connecting on 41.7 percent of his 3-pointers (78-of-187) through 28 games. Named to Team USA roster for the Nike Hoop Summit in April, he’s a three-time Three Rivers League Player of the Year ranks as the nation’s No. 36 recruit in the Class of 2023 by ESPN.com.
Shelstad has maintained a 3.30 GPA in the classroom. He has signed a national letter of intent to play basketball on scholarship at the University of Oregon this fall.
Shelstad has volunteered locally as part of multiple fundraising campaigns to benefit children’s cancer research. He has also donated his time as a youth basketball coach and counselor.
