The 5-foot-7 senior midfielder led the Mustangs to a 22-0 record and the Class AAA state championship this past season. Smith scored 26 goals and passed for 18 assists, including setting up a goal in Houston’s 2-1 shootout win over Bearden High in the state final. The Memphis Commercial Appeal All-Metro Player of the Year, she was a United Soccer Coaches High School All-American selection and participated in the High School All-American Game in South Carolina last December.
Smith maintained a 4.26 weighted GPA in the classroom. She has signed a written letter of athletic aid to play soccer at Vanderbilt University this fall. She graduated from high school in December and attended classes in Nashville this past spring semester.
Smith shares in the responsibility of caring for her two young cousins, who lost their father recently in an airplane crash. She has volunteered locally with the Special Olympics and as a youth soccer coach. She has also donated her time to multiple community service initiatives through her church.
