The 5-foot-9, 161-pound senior sprinter broke the tape in the 200-meter dash as well as the 400 at the Class 4A state meet this past season, leading the Rangers to fifth place as a team. Rodgers’ personal-best time of 46.59 seconds in the 400 ranked tied for 21st in the nation among boys prep competitors this spring. His season-best clocking of 21.20 in the 200 ranked tied for No. 69. He also shared in a 4x400 relay title at states as part of a quartet that ran a 3:25.51.
Rodgers has maintained a B average in the classroom. He has signed a national letter of intent to compete on an athletic scholarship at Mississippi State University this fall.
A member of both his school and church choir, Rodgers has volunteered locally teaching vacation bible school.
