The 6-foot-3 1/2, 210-pound senior quarterback passed for 2,321 yards and 30 touchdowns this past season, completing 71.8 percent of his attempts and throwing just five interceptions in leading the Tigers (10-2) to the Division 1 semifinals. Rated as the nation’s No. 1 prospect in his class by 247Sports, ESPN and On3, Underwood also rushed for 582 yards and 10 touchdowns, averaging 15.3 yards per carry. He will graduate as the leading touchdown passer in state history.
Underwood has maintained a 3.2 GPA in the classroom. At the time of his selection, he had made a verbal commitment to receive athletic aid to play football at the University of Michigan next fall.
Underwood has volunteered locally at Detroit’s Capuchin Soup Kitchen during the holiday season and has also donated his time with his team washing cars and serving food at Culver’s Restaurant. He has also served as a youth football instructor and coach.
