The state’s two-time returning Gatorade Player of the Year, the 5-foot-9, 145-pound senior won the LHSAA Division I state meet this past season with a meet record time of 14:44.22, breaking the tape 14 seconds ahead of his next-closest competitor and leading the Bluejays to a fourth straight team championship. A four-time All-State selection, Mullen took third at the NXN Southeast Regional, the best finish ever for a Louisiana runner. He clocked a 5K personal-best of 14:56.6 last fall to place fifth at the Great American XC Festival in North Carolina.
Mullen has maintained a 4.67 GPA in the classroom. He will attend Harvard University this fall, where he will compete in cross country and track.
Active in planting trees throughout the community as part of a nature-preservation initiative, Mullen has volunteered locally in the Hams for Fams program, delivering Thanksgiving dinners to families in need. He has also donated more than 100 hours of his time at the Therapeutic Learning Center (TLC), helping to promote the well being of children across Metro New Orleans.
