The 6-foot-3, 210-pound senior quarterback had led the Indians to a 12-1 record and a berth in the Class 6A state championship game against Saraland High at the time of his selection. Nix passed for 3,496 yards and 48 touchdowns through 13 games, while rushing for 351 yards and six scores. A three-time All-State selection, Nix already owns the Alabama high school record with 12,133 yards of total offense entering the final game of his prep career, including 10,087 yards passing and 125 touchdowns.
Nix has maintained a weighted 4.14 GPA in the classroom and represents one of the state’s top academic candidates in meeting the Gatorade award’s broad criteria. He has verbally committed to play football on an athletic scholarship at Auburn University in the fall of 2019.
Nix has participated in two service-mission trips to the Dominican Republic and he has volunteered locally with multiple community service initiatives through the Pinson Valley National Honor Society.
