The 6-foot-1 senior setter and right side hitter recorded 706 assists and 213 kills this past season, leading the Jaguars (19-9) to the Division I state championship match. Groomes also compiled 202 digs, 69 service aces and 48 blocks while posting a .478 kill percentage on the year. A three-time District 2 Player of the Year, she is a two-time First Team All-State selection as well and concluded her prep volleyball career with 1,432 assists and 856 kills.
Groomes has maintained a weighted 4.08 GPA in the classroom. Taking advantage of NCAA early signing rules, Groomes inked a financial-aid agreement that paved the way for her to enroll at the University of San Diego, where she will play volleyball. She graduated from high school in December and will attend classes in the spring semester.
A school ambassador at St. Joseph’s, Groomes has volunteered locally as a youth volleyball coach. She has also donated her time to multiple community service initiatives through her school’s National Honor Society.
