The 6-foot-7, 230-pound senior right-handed pitcher compiled a 6-1 record on the mound with a 0.31 ERA and 91 strikeouts in 45.1 innings this past season, leading the Eagles to a 19-5-1 record and a berth in the Class 3A regional quarterfinals. The nation’s No. 6 draft prospect as ranked by Baseball America, Painter held opposing hitters to a .119 batting average and struck out 54 percent of the total batters he faced.
Painter has maintained a 3.40 GPA in the classroom. He has signed a National Letter of Intent to play baseball on scholarship at the University of Florida this fall, but is projected as an early round selection in July’s Major League Baseball draft.
Painter has volunteered locally on behalf of the Humane Society of Broward County and United Community Options of South Florida in addition to helping to raise nearly $7,000 to benefit the OK Kids Korral in association with the Toby Keith Foundation.
