“We were a fairly decent team, especially defensively, and we had no answer for Abby. I spent the entire year telling people Abby Cox is the best player in Oregon. Even though Jesuit is so good at every position, it shouldn’t take away from Abby being the best player.”

Athletic Excellence

The 5-foot-3 senior midfielder and forward scored 18 goals and passed for 17 assists this past season, leading the Crusaders (16-1) to the Class 6A state quarterfinals. The Class 6A Player of the Year, Cox was also the co-Player of the Year in the Metro League. A 2023 United Soccer Coaches Youth All-American selection based on play with her club team, the Portland Thorns, she participated in the High School All-American Game last fall.

Academic Achievement

Cox has maintained a 3.99 GPA in the classroom. She has signed a national letter of intent to play soccer on scholarship at Texas Christian University this fall.

Exemplary Character

A Jesuit High student ambassador, Cox has volunteered locally at a soccer camp for underserved children and as a peer tutor. She has also donated her time as part of multiple fundraising campaigns to benefit the Children’s Cancer Association.
