The 5-foot-10 senior point guard led the Plainsmen (37-5) to the 5A Division II state championship this past season. The state’s returning Gatorade Player of the Year, Chavez averaged 34.9 points, 9.1 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 3.7 steals and 1.2 blocks per game. She scored 50 or more in a game nine times in her career and finished with 4,796 points. She was named a McDonald’s All-American, a Naismith First Team All-American and is ranked as the nation’s No. 1 recruit in the Class of 2025 by ESPN and 247Sports.
Chavez has maintained a 3.54 GPA in the classroom. She is expected to announce her decision on a collegiate destination on March 25.
Chavez has volunteered locally with the Plainsmen Pal Program through which Monterey basketball players befriend and mentor an elementary school student during the season. She coordinates activities and games for Plainsmen Pal gatherings, and she’s also donated her time coaching younger players at her father’s gym.
