The 5-foot-11, 135-pound senior won the national championship in the 400-meter intermediate hurdles this past season at the Nike Outdoor Nationals. Vazquez followed up less than a week later by taking second in the 400 hurdles at the USATF Under-20 National Championships with a time of 50.95 seconds, which ranked No. 2 nationally among prep competitors in 2022 at the time of his selection. He also swept the 110-meter high hurdles and 300-meter intermediate hurdles at the Division 1 state meet, leading the Mountain Lions to a third-place finish as a team.
Vazquez has maintained a weighted 3.74 GPA in the classroom. He has signed a National Letter of Intent to compete on an athletic scholarship at UCLA this fall.
Vazquez has volunteered locally on behalf of Feed My Starving Children, and he has donated his time as a youth track coach.
