The 6-foot-10, 262-pound senior forward led the Knights to a 26-8 record and the Class AAA state title this past season. Carter averaged 22.7 points, 15.5 rebounds and 5.8 blocks per game while shooting 63.9 percent from inside the arc. A 2017 McDonald's All-American Game selection and a Jordan Brand Classic game invitee, he is ranked as the nation's No. 3 recruit in the Class of 2017 by ESPN.
Carter has maintained a 92.4 average in the classroom. He has signed a National Letter of Intent to play basketball on scholarship at Duke University this fall.
Carter has volunteered locally on behalf of Trees Atlanta, the Boys and Girls Clubs of America and the World Changers International Church. "Wendell Carter is the best basketball player I have seen in the last 20 years," said Anthony Stroud, head coach at Stone Mountain High. "His upside is tremendous. He is a good passer and can play inside or outside the paint. He is, in my opinion, the best player in the state."
