Ohata has maintained a 3.17 GPA in the classroom and represents one of the state's top academic candidates in meeting the Gatorade award's broad criteria.
He has volunteered locally with the Head Start program at a childcare facility and as part of multiple fundraising campaigns to benefit the American Heart Association. He has also donated his time as a youth soccer coach.
