The 5-foot-5 sophomore won the 800-meter run, the 1,600 and the 3,200 at the Class 4A state meet this past season, leading the Vikings to an eighth-place finish as a team. At the time of her selection, Roe was ranked among the nation's top 50 prep competitors this spring in four disciplines: the mile (No. 10), the 1,600 (No. 32), the 3,200 (No. 38) and the 800 (No. 49). She concluded her sophomore year with seven state titles in her prep running career to date.
Roe has maintained a 3.69 GPA in the classroom. She will begin her junior year of high school this fall.
Roe has volunteered locally as a youth track coach and as part of multiple community-service initiatives on behalf of her church youth group. "Taylor Roe is the class of the state," said Eric Hruschka, head coach of Henry Jackson High. "She dominated the state meet winning all three distance races. I cannot remember an athlete ever doing that in the large school classification."
