Athletic Excellence

The state’s returning Gatorade Runner of the Year, the 5-foot-10 senior earned dual All-American honors for a second straight year this past season by finishing second at the Nike Cross Nationals Final and sixth at the national Foot Locker Cross Country Championships. Ewert also won her second-straight Division I state meet with a time of 17:22.4, breaking the tape 26.2 seconds ahead of her next-closest competitor and leading the Beavers to a first-place finish as a team. She set an American Under-20 and national high school record in the 20-kilometer event at the USA Track and Field U20 Race Walk Championships in July, qualifying her for the 2020 U.S. Olympic Trials.
