The 6-foot, 180-pound senior won the 200- and 400-meter dash at the Class 4A state meet this past season, leading the Mavericks to a seventh-place finish as a team. Underwood’s winning time of 45.36 seconds in the 400 ranked No. 1 nationally among prep competitors in 2023, while his winning 200 time of 20.93 seconds ranked No. 31. He took first in the 400 at both the Brooks PR Invitational and the New Balance Nationals Outdoor.
Underwood has maintained a weighted 3.23 GPA in the classroom. He has signed a National Letter of Intent to compete on scholarship at Kansas State University this fall.
Underwood has volunteered locally as a youth soccer and basketball referee, and he has donated his time as a physical fitness mentor to elementary school students.
