“Tatum was determined and worked hard in the pre-season, at a time when no athletic venues were available to high school students due to COVID restrictions. She trained in the weight room, ran hills in her neighborhood and found creative ways to improve in the pole vault. There were many trips to a nearby park where she would practice drills with an old pole and a makeshift slide box.”
