The 5-foot-8 senior raced to the Division 1 individual state championship this past season with a time of 18:09. King-Shaw also won the Northern Regional championships, the High Desert League meet and the Douglas Class Race, while placing sixth in the Division 1 race at the Stanford Invitational.
King-Shaw has maintained a 3.95 GPA in the classroom. She remains undecided upon a collegiate destination.
King-Shaw has volunteered locally on behalf of RAVE Family Center, Children's Miracle Network Hospitals and a veterinary clinic. "Samantha is a coach's dream," said Reed coach Lisa Stevens. "This season was a culmination of her work ethic and consistent training. She's a natural leader and a source of great inspiration for all of our younger runners."
