The 5-foot-9 junior won the Division 2 state title this past season, breaking the tape in a divisional record time of 16:40.7 to finish a stunning 61.2 seconds ahead of her next-closest competitor and leading the Cougars to the state team title. Engelhardt also won the Clovis (Pre-State) Invitational at Woodward Park in 16:39.3, the second-fastest time in history on the same layout that hosts every state meet. The state’s returning Gatorade Player of the Year, she was the top California finisher at the Woodbridge Classic, where she took third.
Engelhardt has maintained a 4.54 weighted GPA in the classroom. She will begin her senior year of high school this fall.
An active member of Runners for Public Lands, Engelhardt has volunteered locally cleaning and clearing running trails and public-access open space.
