The 5-foot-10 sophomore outside hitter led the Red Raiders to a 26-1 record and the Division 1 state championship this past season. James tallied 518 kills, 217 digs and 42 service aces while posting a kill percentage of .471 and a hitting percentage of .347. The Boston Globe Division 1 Player of the Year, James is a two-time Boston Globe and Boston Herald All-Scholastic. She concluded her sophomore year with 811 total kills in her prep volleyball career.
James has maintained an A average in the classroom. She will begin her junior year of high school this fall.
A member of the Spanish National Honor Society, James has volunteered locally with the Special Olympics and as a youth volleyball coach. "Riley makes the game look easy," said Joe Reardon, head coach of Bishop Feehan High. "She is a complete player with a high volleyball IQ. She can attack from anywhere on the court and get the kill."
