The 2015-16 Gatorade State Track & Field Athlete of the Year, the 5-foot-5 junior took bronze at the national Foot Locker Cross Country Championships this past season, earning All-American honors. Story also won the Class A-AA state meet with a time of 17:49.7, breaking the tape 1:12.9 ahead of her next-closest competitor and leading the Warriors to a third-place finish as a team. Undefeated against in-state competition, she represented first-place Team USA at the Great Edinburgh International XCountry competition in Scotland earlier this month, where she took 21st.
Story has maintained a weighted 4.27 GPA in the classroom. She will begin her senior year of high school this fall.
A member of the Duke University TIP Talented and Gifted Program, Story is a member of the CAK student senate and Spanish Club. She has volunteered locally on behalf of multiple community-service initiatives through her church youth group. "Rebecca continues to raise the bar and delivers with her consistency and growth," said Tony Cosey, head coach of Christian Academy of Knoxville. "I am very fortunate to be able to coach and develop such a great talent."
