The 6-foot-2, 170-pound senior guard averaged 42.8 points, six rebounds and 4.1 assists per game while shooting 58 percent from inside the arc this past season, leading the Timberwolves (19-6) to the Class 6A area final. The state's returning Gatorade Boys Basketball Player of the Year and a 2017 McDonald's All-American Game selection, Young is ranked as the nation's No. 15 recruit in the Class of 2017 by ESPN.
Young has maintained a B average in the classroom. He has signed a National Letter of Intent to play basketball on scholarship at the University of Oklahoma this fall.
A devoted parishioner in his church community, Young has volunteered locally as a mentor for students with special needs and as a youth basketball coach. "Trae Young is so crafty with the ball it was very difficult containing him even with two players," said Gregg Hardin, head coach at Moore High. "He has all the tools needed to be a great player at the next level. He's by far the best player in the state and can contend with the top players in the nation."
