Athletic Excellence

The 6-foot-6, 218-pound senior wing led the Hurricanes to an 18-5 record and the Division 4 state championship this past season. Brooks averaged 33.1 points, 10.7 rebounds, 9.2 steals, 4.5 assists and 1.4 blocks per game, and he tallied 15 points, 11 rebounds and five assists in the Academy’s 47-41 win over Tri-Unity Christian High in the state title game. Also the state’s Mr. Basketball winner, Brooks is the first player in the history of the Detroit Public Schools to be named First Team All-City all four years of high school. He concluded his prep basketball career with 1,973 points.

Academic Achievement

Brooks has maintained a weighted 4.13 GPA in the classroom. He has signed a National Letter of Intent to play basketball on scholarship at Michigan State University this fall.

Exemplary Character

A member of the Michigan High School Athletic Association Student Advisory Council, Brooks has volunteered locally with the TRiO Upward Bound Program, which helps prepare low-income students for higher education. He has also donated his time as a youth basketball coach and mentor.
