The 6-foot-2, 160-pound senior right-handed pitcher and shortstop had led the Lancers to a 12-0 record at the time of his selection. Fitzgerald posted a 4-0 record on the mound with a 0.65 ERA through 12 games to go with a .636 batting average, 11 RBI and 12 runs scored. He allowed just 10 hits in 32.1 innings pitched while striking out 55 batters. The Capital Division Player of the Year as a junior, Fitzgerald was also named to USA TODAY’s American Family Insurance ALL-USA Vermont Second Team.
Fitzgerald has maintained a 3.18 GPA in the classroom. He will attend Penn State University-Harrisburg this fall, where he will play baseball.
Fitzgerald has volunteered locally on behalf of food and toy drives, the American Red Cross, youth sports programs and an elementary school reading initiative.
