The 5-foot-10, 190-pound senior quarterback and linebacker set single-season national records with 4,846 rushing yards and 71 rushing touchdowns this past season, leading the Redskins (13-1) to the Class 3A state semifinals. McLaughlin ran for more than 300 yards in 10 of Knox’s 14 games and his 447 total points on the year ranks No. 2 in high school history, nationally. Defensively, McLaughlin tallied 66 tackles and eight interceptions. He concluded his prep football career ranked No. 3 nationally with 11,839 career rushing yards.
McLaughlin has maintained a 3.12 GPA in the classroom. At the time of his selection, he was undecided on a collegiate destination.
A four-year member of the Knox High student council, McLaughlin is a member of Students Against Destructive Decisions and his school’s Pep Club. He has volunteered locally as a 10-year member of 4-H and donated his time to multiple youth football, basketball and baseball camps.
