Athletic Excellence

The 6-foot-1 senior guard had led the Blackhawks to a 22-1 record and a berth in the Class B state tournament at the time of her selection. Selland averaged 19.6 points, 7.7 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game while shooting 59 percent from the inside the arc through 23 games. A two-time First Team All-State honoree and the 2016 South Dakota Sportswriters Association Prep Female Athlete of the Year, she has scored 2,132 points in her high school career.

Academic Achievement

Selland has maintained a 4.09 GPA in the classroom. She has signed a National Letter of Intent to play basketball on scholarship at South Dakota State University this fall.

Exemplary Character

A member of the National Honor Society as well as her school's concert band and chorus, she has served as the president of the student council and has volunteered locally as a vacation bible camp mentor.
