The state’s returning Gatorade Player of the Year, the 6-foot-3, 180-pound senior jumper won the gold medal in the triple jump at the USATF Under-20 Championships this past season, earning himself a spot in the Under-20 World Championships in Oregon in August. Nesmith also set a state record in the triple jump of 53 feet, 1 inch at the Penn Relays Carnival, a leap that ranked No. 1 nationally among prep boys competitors this spring and No. 12 in prep history. The winner of the long jump and triple jump at the Class AAA state meet, he’s also nationally ranked in two other events this spring: Tied for No. 18 in the high jump (7-0) and tied for No. 46 in the long jump (23-11.75).
Nesmith has maintained a 3.38 weighted GPA in the classroom. He has signed a written letter of athletic aid to compete at Kansas State University this fall.
Nesmith has volunteered locally at summer track meets. He has also donated his time coaching USA Track & Field youth athletes.
