The 6-foot-6, 250-pound senior left-handed pitcher and outfielder had led the Blue Jackets to a 20-5 record and a berth in the Division IV regional semifinals at the time of his selection. Kirian posted a 5-0 record on the mound with a 0.75 ERA and 89 strikeouts in 37 innings through 25 games. Ranked as the state's No. 1 recruit in the Class of 2017 by Perfect Game, he also batted .472 with three home runs, 29 RBI and a .792 slugging percentage.
Kirian has maintained a 3.22 GPA in the classroom. He has signed a National Letter of Intent to play baseball on scholarship at the University of Louisville this fall.
A member of his school's Language Club, he has volunteered locally on behalf of Students Against Destructive Decisions and the Ronald McDonald House Charities. "Michael Kirian is an outstanding player who is skilled both on the mound and at the plate," said Rick Bowerman, head coach at Seneca East. "He is an outstanding person with excellent sportsmanship and high character."
