“While going unbeaten in the 100 in a state like Texas gives you instant credibility, Mia Maxwell also broke the state record in the event to become Queen of Speed in a national hotbed for the dashes. She’s a straight-ahead, low-energy-bleed powerpack in the last 30 meters.”

Athletic Excellence

The 5-foot-7 junior sprint sensation won the Nike Outdoor Nationals title in the 100-meter dash and set a state record in the event at the UIL Class 6A state championships this past season. That latter clocking of 11.04 seconds ranked No. 2 nationally among prep girls competitors this spring and No. 3 worldwide in the U20 age group. Maxwell added another national crown in the USATF U-20 National Championships 200 final with a personal-best time of 23.10, which ranked No. 10 in the country. She also won an individual state title in the triple jump, leading the Eagles to second place as a team. Her wind-legal PR triple jump of 42 feet, 6.5 inches at the UIL Class 6A Region III meet ranked No. 4 nationally.
